Autumn Release: The cycles of seasons

As autumn arrives and the nights grow darker, the trees adorn themselves in vibrant shades of red and orange before releasing their leaves. They fall to the ground, creating a carpet of burnt golden light — a reminder of the beauty in shedding what no longer serves us. This season invites us to let go, to prepare for the quiet winter months, and to turn inward for rest, renewal, and reflection.

Everyone experiences release differently. For some, it feels like freedom — a relief in unburdening what is no longer needed. For others, it can feel like grief — a loss, or the unease of stepping into the unknown. Yet whichever way we approach it, release is an unavoidable part of life, woven into the turning of the seasons. Each cycle brings lessons that shape us, even when we can’t yet see their purpose. With time and trust, even the darkest chapters reveal their meaning.

I’ve learned this through my own seasons of shedding. In my younger years, I believed life was happening to me, as though everything was against me. Now I see that life was always happening for me, guiding me toward growth. Each release, though painful, has carried wisdom. With that understanding, change no longer feels as frightening — it can even feel enlightening, and at times, exciting, as I wonder what the universe has in store.

Of course, change still carries moments of anxiety, fear, and instability. It takes courage to trust not only the universe but also yourself. By being honest with yourself, by recognising your truths, you step into the guidance of your highest self — the part of you that knows what you need, even when you resist it. This honesty is liberating, a freedom that lightens the heart. So embrace the release, trust the shedding, and allow the winter months to restore your balance. In this stillness, you prepare for the light of spring to return once more.
